Subject: Emmy
Julie, I hope all is well with you and your family
and dogs. It is hard to believe that we have now been in CA for over seven
years. The dogs have done well, except for minor problems, until recently,
when Emmy began a downhill course. She has had heart valve and kidney problems
over the last couple of years, but they were fairly well controlled until the
last few months. Despite various medication and food changes, she did not
improve much and three days ago, in fact just after her 15th birthday, she
stopped eating, then stopped drinking, and became increasingly weak. Our vet
came to the house earlier today, and Herb and I, with his help, made the
decision to put her to sleep--a difficult decision for us but the right one
for her, we think. We want to thank you for all the years we had with Emmy;
she was a very good, though sometimes stubborn, dog, who had a good life, and
we will miss her very much.
Pryor and Alex are fine, although perhaps a little
shaken by the loss of Emmy. By the way, I just found your very impressive
website. It's good to know that Emmy has a little bit of canine immortality
via the web.
Best regards and thanks,
Susan Lentz
