Dear Julie:

Finally have time to sit down and let you know how our week-end went with Bella.  It was quite the thing.  We haven't had a puppy for over 11 years so it was and experience believe me, but I think we came out on top..  She is going to be easy to train (we hope) and she finally found her voice today.  She travels well, Abby was mad at us at first and since she is a large Lab it sort of intimidated Bella.  She was scared of the boat noises and the airplanes but she settled down when we held her and told her not to be afraid, the noise wouldn't hurt her.

She sends great signals when she has to go out.  She was going to the back door of the cabin and she went out when she got up and shortly after she ate or drank, but the big jobs are really funny.  She runs full tilt and in circles like she's in a panic, then she will stop and do her thing.  Everytime she went out and did something, she got praised.  So far she has had one accident in the house and that was because Martin had figured her out.

She is on the way to being our baby, and no you won't ever get her back!!!!!

We enjoyed meeting you and your daughter.  Who knows, some day we may want a companion/playmate for her.  We will keep in touch as she grows up and as soon as we can get a good picture of her I'll send some to you.

Hi:

Just thought that I would update you on Bella.

She went to Canada this wek-end and passed with flying colors.  Everyone that saw her fell in love with her.

She has her ups and downs.  Some days she is very laid back and others a little devil.  Some times its like having a new baby (which she is) that has to put everything in her mouth,  We know when she has something that she really knows that she shouldn't because she runs like the dickens and I think, she dares us to catch her.  She is very smart and Martin says thats where breeding counts.

She is also loosing her baby teeth.  I laughed yesterday when I checked her---she looked different and the two middle ones on the bottom were gone, she looked like my Grandson---he just lost his two on the bottom too.  Well today all four of them are out but you can see in one place where the new ones are trying to break thru.

She's slowly getting the  "come" thing but when she doesn't want to listen she looks at you like your some kind of dummie or as much as to say "who---Me?"  In about a month or so she's going to have to learn "sit" & "stay" and that should be fun.

We are so glad we found her because she is loved to death so you don't have to worry on this end.  She sits with "Daddy" when he read the paper in the morning and attacks him at night when he comes thru the door and he loves every minute of it.

Will let you know when she is spayed which will be after the baby teeth.

Take care.

Edwina

Hello:

Just thought that I would up-date some pictures of Bella.

She seems to get lighter as she gets clipped around her face, more towards her Mom I think.

She is going on ten months and everything we have read about Lhasas fits her to a T. She just has to have something to chew on and can entertain herself quite well. I haven't figured it out yet but she loves the snow and is forever going after ice chunks, this also includes sticks, etc. I keep telling her that she is a Lhasa Apso and not a beaver.

She isn't very fond of going in the car tho. Not since she was spayed. I think she associates the car with a bad time and everytime we say lets go or put our jackets on she heads for her kennel and that's where she stays. I have taken her but she shakes til we get out on the highway and then she settles down.

We be came the grandparents of twin baby boys last October and she is so good with them. She probably would have m! ade a good Mother. If the babies cry she is very concerned and runs to get help. When they are in their bouncie seats she goes from one to the other to check on them. When she first saw them we sat on the floor, let her smell them and since then she has been great.

She is and continues to be a joy to have around. How are her sisters doing???

Take care,

Edwina & bella

Hello:
Just recieved your e-mail and yes it's okay that you use Bella in your blog. Our 1st Lhasa was a joy and when we decided to get another puppy we were glad to find Julie. Bella is quite a dog!  There are times when she is demanding and we have to keep at least four steps ahead of her, and if we don't "Oh boy."  Everything Julie has written about Lhasas is very true with Bella and then some, but we love her to death and she has settled in to family very well.

Thank you for including Bella.
