Dogs of China and Japan in Nature and Art
by V. W. F. Collier
1921
Publisher: London, W. Heinemann

This is a very comprehensive and well-illustrated monograph on the various canine breeds of China and Japan, such as heretofore not existed. The author treats with much detail and great care of dogs in early times, the position of the dog in religion, dog breeding, sporting and guard dogs. More than half of the book is devoted to a discussion of the miniature dogs, -- the Pekiniese, pug and lion-dog; and along this line the author has brought to light a great deal of novel and profound research and made a real contribution to the subject.
